Neurodiversity-Affirming Approach
At South Shore Therapies, we embrace and celebrate neurodiversity through personalized, affirming approaches. We believe every child deserves care that recognizes and supports their unique strengths. We emphasize inclusivity and acceptance by providing tools that empower children to navigate the world according to their own neurological makeup.
Occupational Therapy
Pediatric Occupational Therapy helps children participate successfully in the tasks and occupations they want and need to do in their daily lives. Through the use of purposeful and meaningful activities we help children develop “skills for the job of living” including playing, learning, developing motor coordination, and self-care skills.

Speech & Language Therapy
Pediatric speech-language therapy pathologists help develop a child’s ability to produce speech sounds, develop fluency and voice quality, understand language, and express their thoughts and needs. In addition, they help children interpret and use both verbal and nonverbal communication to interact socially.
Sensory Integration
Sensory integration is the ability to organize the sensory information from our bodies and the world around us so that we can successfully function in day-to-day life. When a child does not perceive and interpret sensory information efficiently it can manifest in behavioral and emotional regulation difficulties, coordination issues, poor self-concept, and delays in academic progress.

Feeding Therapy
Children can experience challenges with eating for a variety of reasons including medical, motor and sensory factors. Our
feeding therapists work with children and their families to expand the child’s ability to handle new foods by addressing foundational sensory and motor difficulties in a supportive manner.
Executive Function Disorders
The
executive functions are a set of neurologically based skills necessary for planning and organizing life tasks. Important aspects of executive functioning are the ability to maintain mental control and attention, as well as manage impulsivity, in order to initiate, plan, adjust and successfully complete daily activities.

Augmentative Alternative Communication Therapy
Augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) therapy includes all forms of communication (other than oral speech) that are used to express thoughts, needs, wants, and ideas. Special augmentative aids, such as picture and symbol communication boards and electronic devices, are available and designed to help children express themselves.
