Our Staff

South Shore Therapies currently has 20 occupational therapists and 9 speech pathologists on staff.  Each staff member brings unique skills and training for individualizing therapy programs to maximize gains. Our staff is all highly trained and experienced in pediatrics and sensory integration. Many of our occupational therapy staff have SIPT certification. Each has experience working in a variety of settings with varied ages and diagnostic categories.


Stacey Szklut M.S., OTR/L is the owner and executive director of South Shore Therapies, Inc. She specializes in intervention for individuals with sensory, motor, pre-vocational, and feeding difficulties and has advanced training in feeding/ oral motor interventions and therapeutic listening programs. Stacey is a nationally recognized expert in the area of sensory integration.  In addition to her work in the clinic, she travels nationally to teach a wide variety of workshops on assessment, intervention, and combining therapeutic techniques.  Stacey’s extensive clinical and teaching experience provides the foundation for her belief in an eclectic approach to intervention, focusing on developing functional abilities for independence.  She has been positively impacting lives with her therapy since 1982.


Stacey has written several book chapters for Occupational Therapy textbooks, including  Assessment of the Developmentally Delayed Child,  Occupational and Physical Therapy Interventions for the Learning Disabled Child, The OT Can’t Do it Alone: Indirect Intervention: Helping Other’s to Help the Child, and  How an OT Can Help: Case Synthesis.  She has also collaborated on creating two exciting and useful CD’s and booklets called “Making Sense of Sensory Integration” and “Teachers Ask About Sensory Integration”.  In 2009 Ms. Szklut and South Shore Therapies were highlighted as a premier pediatric sensory integration clinic in Gary Kielhofner’s book Current Conceptual Frameworks in Occupational Therapy.  This year Stacey received an excellence in writing award from the American Occupational Therapy Association for her article on Clinical Reasoning in the Assessment of Sensory Integration. 


Melanie Austin, MS, CCC-SLP is the director of speech and language services for South Shore Therapies, Inc.  She has worked in outpatient pediatric treatment settings since 2000 and created our speech and language program in June of 2006.  Her clinical experience includes assessing and treating children with autism spectrum disorder, childhood apraxia, stuttering, cerebral palsy, cleft palate, auditory and language processing disorders, and various other learning disabilities.  She is also a certified provider of The Listening Program. Melanie frequently lectures on an array of speech and language topics for local pre-school programs and daycares, PAC and SEPAC organizations, and other health professionals.  Most recently she started teaching as a visiting lecturer in the Communication Disorders department at Bridgewater State University.  In addition, she has appeared as a guest on 95.9 WATD's Raising Healthy Kids program and contributed to both South Shore and Parents Magazine.


Beth Beaudry OTR/L has impressive clinical expertise ranging from early intervention to adult rehabilitation. She is certified in pediatric neurodevelopmental treatment (NDT) and has specialty training in sensory integration, handwriting programs, oral motor treatment and feeding intervention.  Beth is also a certified provider for The Listening Program (TLP).  In addition, Beth coordinates the student intern program at South Shore Therapies with colleges around the country.


Darlene Guerriero COTA is well experienced in pediatrics; having worked in early intervention, the public school system and private settings.  She also possesses prior practice in acute care and rehabilitation with adults. Darlene has specialty training in sensory integration, perceptual-motor training and Brain Gym.  In addition, Darlene is certified in the Handwriting Without Tears Program, the Alert Program and Therapeutic Listening Program.


Wendy Li, OTR/L has done work in rehabilitation, outpatient care, public schools, and early intervention prior to joining South Shore Therapies.  She is a Certified Early Intervention Specialist with special interests in nutrition, oral motor and feeding development, and Autism Spectrum Disorders.  She is a trained provider for The Listening Program (TLP), Therapeutic Listening, and Integrated Listening Systems (iLs).  She also has experience with Brain Gym and visual vestibular remediation programs.


Ellen Keefe, MS, CCC-SLP has multiple years of experience working with the pediatric population within a variety of settings including educational collaboratives and public school systems.  Ellen has skill assessing and treating children with a wide range of communication disorders, with expertise in children who are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and language learning disabilities.  In addition Ellen has experience developing Augmentative Alternative Communication supports using Mayer Johnson software and Writing With Symbols.


June Smith, OTR/L has extensive experience in both public and private schools; home based intervention, as well as acute care & rehab settings.  Her clinical expertise encompasses work with learning disabled, deaf, blind & multi-handicapped children and adolescents. June specializes in sensory integration, ocular-motor dysfunction and visual-vestibular treatment. She is also a provider for the Therapeutic Listening Program. She frequently presents in-service programs to a variety of professionals. In addition, June is a certified brain gym instructor.


Sue Curtis, MS, OTR/L has extensive experience in sensory integration evaluations and intervention.  Over her career she has worked in a wide variety of settings, with children from birth through adolescence.  Susan also possesses experience in working with infants and children with feeding issues.  She is an instructor of the Sensory Integration and Praxis Tests administration course and is a provider for the Therapeutic Listening Program.

 
Tracey Goodwin, MS, OTR/L currentlydivides her occupational therapy career between the school system, early intervention and South Shore Therapies. She enjoys working with children a variety of ages and diagnoses and has specialty interests in feeding, fine motor development, handwriting and behavioral and emotional challenges.  Tracey is a provider for The Listening Program, Handwriting Without Tears and kids yoga.


Marc Abbott MS, OTR/L has worked in a wide variety of settings from rehabilitation hospitals, special education collaboratives, and public schools. He has worked with children, adults and the geriatric population. He greatly enjoys working with children on the autism spectrum.  Marc is trained in visual-vestibular integration, handwriting programs, Brain Gym, The Alert Program, bal-a-vis-x, and is a provider for The Listening Program.


Alissa Delpico, OTR/L has significant experience in schools and early intervention prior to joining South Shore Therapies.  She is a certified Early Intervention Specialist and is qualified as a teacher for infants, toddlers and pre-schoolers. Alissa is also certified in pediatric NDT, and has specialty training in sensory integration and feeding intervention. She is a provider for The Listening Program.


Kristy Maier MS, OTR/L has worked in a variety of public school settings, working with children with diverse diagnoses including Cerebral Palsy, Down syndrome, Autism spectrum and developmental delays.  In addition to sensory integration Kristy possesses specialty knowledge in behavior modification, Applied Behavior Analysis, web based IEP programs and assistive technology.  She is also trained in Barry Prizant’s SCERTS model.


Irene Kershaw OTR/L has focused her extensive career on working with children under the age of six.  She has a wide variety of experience in early intervention, school settings and hospitals, including the neonatal ICU, as well as her own private practice.  Irene has specialty training in sensory integration, feeding intervention, identifying at risk children and is an advanced provider for Therapeutic Listening program.  Irene has co-authored Sensory Integration- A Guide for Parents and Teachers.

 
Rachel Colleary MS, CCC-SLP  has many years of experience providing speech and language treatment to children with a wide variety of communication difficulties, including language-based learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, dyspraxia/articulation disorders, and processing difficulties.  In addition to working with the children here at South Shore Therapies, she is currently working within a public school setting.  Her previous clinical experiences include working with children within home settings and outpatient rehabilitation centers.


Christine Farzan, MS, CCC-SLP is a speech pathologist with over 15 years of experience. She has worked in the public schools, acute care and rehabilitation hospitals, and early intervention. Christine has evaluated and treated children with various diagnoses including apraxia, autism, and auditory processing disorders. Her expertise is with young children with autism and children will language learning disabilities.  She became a member of the SST staff in June 2009.


Sheryl Man, MS, OTR/L has experience working with children in a variety of settings, including outpatient clinic-based care and public school systems. Sheryl has specialized training in Sensory Integration and several therapeutic listening programs, and she has experience using Brain Gym, the Alert Program, and Handwriting Without Tears. Additionally, Sheryl is South Shore Therapies' Research Coordinator, working to ensure that the SST staff is up-to-date on current theories and intervention techniques, as well as involving the clinics in research studies to further knowledge in areas that affect our client population.


Janmarie Delaney, OTR/L is the occupational therapy coordinator at South Shore Therapies. Shehas worked in a variety of settings including adult rehab, acute care, neonatal intensive care, and outpatient pediatrics. Her clinical experience includes assessment and treatment of children with autism spectrum disorder, sensory processing disorder, coordination disorders, developmental delays, cerebral palsy, and other learning disabilities. Janmarie has additional training in neurodevelopmental treatment (NDT), complex feeding disorders, The S.O.S. Approach to Feeding Disorders, therapeutic listening, and the Alert Program.


Melissa Arbour, OTR/L has pediatric experience in a variety of settings, including private clinics, outpatient rehabilitation centers, and school settings serving children and adolescents with SI Dysfunction, fine motor dysfunction, PDD, Autism Spectrum, Asperger's Disorder, Learning Disabilities, and developmental disabilities. She has specialty training and interest in sensory integration, brain gym, handwriting, fine motor development, listening programs, and The Alert Program. She is also trained in visual-vestibular integration and Handy Learning.


John Desmond, MS, CCC-SLP has many years of experience in the public school setting. He evaluates and provides group and individual treatment for elementary and middle school students with a variety of language disorders. John has expertise in the design and implementation of a variety of service delivery models utilizing language based classrooms, resource rooms and pull out and inclusion methodologies to enhance the efficacy of service delivery. John also provides clinical supervision to newly graduated speech-language pathologists to promote the highest standards in the field of speech-language pathology.


Amy Donovan, MS, OTR/L joined the South Shore Therapies team in September, 2010 and splits her time between both the Pembroke and Weymouth clinics.  She enjoys working with all ages of children and diagnoses.  Her special interests include working with children with impairments in sensory integration, activities of daily living, gross and fine motor skills, and handwriting.  Amy has received additional training in Therapeutic Listening and Handwriting without Tears.   Before starting at SST, Amy assisted in running and planning a Universal Recreation Program while working on her Master’s Degree in OT.  In addition, in April 2011 Amy was invited to present her thesis, Daily Routines of Breastfeeding Mothers, at the American Occupational Therapy Association Conference.


Lisa Vozella, MS, OTR/L has multiple years experience working as a teaching assistant and special needs teacher in a special education collaborative prior to working as an occupational therapist. Since beginning her career as an occupational therapist, she has had specialty training in the Handwriting without Tears program, Brain Gym, and Therapeutic Listening.  She also has experience with the Alert program, and visual vestibular remediation programs. Lisa has evaluated and treated children with various diagnoses including autism spectrum disorder, sensory processing disorder, coordination disorders, developmental delays, and other learning disabilities

Sarah Welch, MS, OTR/L is a Boston University graduate. Throughout her graduate education, she had experience working in a variety of settings including outpatient clinics, rehabilitation hospitals, and public schools. She has an interest working with children of all ages and a variety of disabilities including visual impairments, sensory processing disorders, developmental disabilities, feeding difficulties, fine motor impairments, and autism spectrum disorder. She has experience using Brain Gym, The Alert Program for Self Regulation, and The S.O.S. Approach to Feeding.


Emily Solari, MS, CCC-SLP joined the South Shore Therapies team in August 2010. She has experience providing speech and language therapy to the pediatric population in both the public school setting as well as the private therapy setting.  She completed her undergraduate course work at the University of Connecticut and her master’s course work at Emerson College in Boston.  Her experience includes assessing and treating children with a variety of impairments including apraxia, articulation, autism spectrum disorder, and pragmatic language deficits.  In addition she has provided inservices through South Shore Therapies for parents and professionals on various speech and language related topics.


Theresa Tousignant, MS, CF-SLP joined South Shore Therapies in May 2011. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Springfield College and attended graduate school at Northeastern University.  Theresa worked in healthcare as an administrator for a number of years prior to working as a speech language pathologist.  She has experience working with children of all ages and with a wide range of communication disorders, including articulation and phonological disorders, receptive and expressive language difficulties, social language deficits, and higher level language struggles.  Theresa has a particular interest in children who are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder or with language-based learning disabilities. Her previous clinical experiences include working with children within the public school and outpatient rehabilitation centers.
