Our Beginnings

South Shore Therapies began as a concept when Stacey Szklut, MS, OTR/L recognized a great need for high quality, personalized occupational therapy services on the South Shore of Massachusetts and Cape Cod. The concept became a reality and South Shore Therapies opened its doors in April of 2004 specializing in sensory integration intervention. The clinic quickly grew and in September of 2005 we doubled our clinic space to over 5000 square feet. In meeting the needs of our clients and their families we continue to expand our available therapeutic modalities and specialists. We currently have therapists with specialty training in Sensory Integration, Neurodevelopmental Treatment (NDT), Oral Motor intervention, Listening Therapies, Visual-Vestibular Integration, Handwriting Without Tears and Brain Gym. In June 2006 we proudly added speech therapy to our services and in 2007 we opened our Pembroke facility to service Plymouth and the Cape. All of our therapists specialize in pediatric intervention.

The therapists at South Shore Therapies came together with similar beliefs and goals. We strongly believe in working together with families in planning intervention, home programming and consultation. We find that by educating the whole family to be an integral part of intervention, we can better help a child be successful in social situations, academic environments, and with basic activities of daily life such as dressing, eating and communication. Our therapists are committed to providing the highest quality of care to their clients and as a result participate in continuing education courses to increase their knowledge base in theory, assessment and intervention techniques. Our goal as therapists is to provide an enriched environment for our clients to develop the skills necessary for greater independence in life. We work with a child or adolescent, at a level they understand, so that they become involved and vested in their own intervention process. We believe in our clients; that with guidance and respect they can find the means necessary to improve sensory processing, motor skills, communication, social skill development, and self-esteem.
